Thatβs ridiculous, Stephen. Your parents sound great π
As a sufferer of night terrors from a young age, this was always going to terrify me. And even watching it since it still holds up well. Wes Craven really was a master of horror
However, even in 1985, there is no excuse for the special effects when the mum gets dragged through the door window π
Interesting side fact, I briefly lived in a street called Elmbank Street where the spooky stuff at the start of my latest article happened and my mum always used to call it a nightmare on Elmbank Street π
Can I throw in an honourable mention for Gerard Butler in the crime thriller βLaw Abiding Citizenβ??? I donβt know if youβve ever seen it but with the way he turns from mild mannered family man to sadistic killer after getting screwed over by the law is downright scary π²π²π². Itβs a brilliant movie but when it takes a somewhat βdarkβ turn (when Gerard changes), it turns into gut wrenching horror, especially with his battle of wits with Jamie Foxx & his gruesome methods of revenge he unleashes on all those who screwed him over π¬π¬π¬
Hannibal Lecter, Mike Myers, Jason Vorhees (I hope I spelled his name right) & although I canβt remember his actual nameβ¦ The villain from the movie βHell Raiserβ πΉπΉπΉ
Ahh, memories. First horror movie I ever saw, also around 5 years old. (Where were my parents??) The tongue thing, Freddy's long arms, and the fountain of blood scene scared me to DEATH as a child. Tina getting dragged up the wall still scares me!
Love your little review!!! You finally got to this one!!
It's funny, I first saw this when I was 3? Maybe 4? I was supposed to be in bed, got tucked in and all. Then my parents went to throw in the VHS and I snuck out and sat behind the couch watching it. That was the night I got hooked on horror movies haha. Freddy always has a special place in my heart.
Yeah I think I was younger than 5! To get over my fear of it, I had to finally watch till the end in the hope that the good guys would win (which they don't) ππ
Watched it at 5 years old! π

No wonder we're all traumatised as adults eh π
I'll check out your article ππ»
Probably the first real horror movie I ever watched, think I was about 10-years-old. Scared me silly.
Same! Dunno what our parents were thinking lol.
We had part 3 playing during my 8th birthday party...ahh the 80s..
That is incredible! πππβ€οΈ
Freddy is my favourite movie villain of all time βοΈπΉ
What others do you like, Gerard?

What is it with parents letting 5 year-olds watch this movie back in the day! π
Yeah the Tina scene still holds up btw π

Hahaha they never do. Freddy don't fuck around haha.
I just read up on the 2nd one and it sounds weird af ππ
I honestly can't even rmr it hahaha. The slasher sequels are always ... uhh special haha
I have done any sequels yet but I reckon they're a goldmine for my reviews π
Oh they definitely would be hahaha. A good reason to put yourself through that haha
